Quick News

Hi Everyone,

If you are not only interested in Hindi soundtracks, this could be an interesting blog as well. I just wanted to tell you about my second blog "Tamil Film Story", I posted my first record, a classic Sivaji film story called Veerapandiya Kattabomman. I don't know why but for some reason there seems to be more dialogue records and story records in South Indian languages than in Hindi. I have a small collection of Tamil Film Stories as well as soundtracks, that I plan to put up once in a while. Also, I if anyone wants to join my blog network on Facebook, just click here.
Thanks(love that pic of Sivaji !)

And I am hoping that the Mumbai terrorist attacks will stop and that nothing worse will happen in the future. Gandhi would so be mad right now, but he would know what to do. I hope people stay safe.

Great to see the appearance of Tamil Film Story, and I think it's off to a great start!

I typed a comment at Tamil Film Story, but I'm not sure it went through. I revised it a few times (I do that sometimes), and I also had to send it via the WordPress "Open ID," so maybe that's part of the reason I had some difficulties. Would it be possible to open that blog up to comments on the "Name/URL" option, which you have here?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing more posts there. I have had an equally strong interest in Tamil film soundtracks, it's just that they're a bit harder to find. (Though I did manage to download some songs through sites like Cool Toad, and now I have a short compilation of old Tamil film songs that I listen to on the subway all the time).

My Indian film obsession actually began more with Tamil films than with Hindi ones. Part of the reason was that I could find a lot of them for free online (some even with subtitles), and I also was driven by the compulsion to see any movie I could find that had Padmini in it.

So, from my perspective, your first selection at Tamil Film Story was just perfect (even if I haven't actually seen that particular film). :)

It is not a riot. It is terrorist action. Please use the right term to describe the situation. I think English is you first language so you have no excuse to not correct term.

Gandhi was only leader who didn't want pakistan to be created that would have resulted in a civil war to fix the problem once and for all but obviously you only know of Indian history written by White Man.
Also, you don't even know that one of the reason for creation of Pakistan was so India couldn't get Iran's oil without some great effort.

Stick with music and saris not bring up history and politics.

Wonderboy - Thanks for the link, really appreciate it!

Richard S - Hi, Richard, I had a feeling you would like the blog. No, the comment on Tamil Film Story did not get through. And I don't know how "ID" works. If you know how just explain to me how to unblock the comments. Thanks

Anonymous - Thanks for your comment. I am sorry for not using the correct term to describe what is currently happening in Mumbai. I have changed the term in my post. Although, no, I’m not only sticking to my saris and music, this is my blog and I will not censure my thoughts. I am currently attaining a BA in South Asian Studies, but I make it a point not to talk about something I don't know much about, and I did not violate this by saying that Gandhi would not be pleased about what is going on, not just about current events but by all religious, political and cultural tensions, based in hate. So for this reason I did not make an intense political statement, but a simple fact. And since I do not know all the details about his life and campaigns, (partly because I am still currently studying), I know for sure, like anyone else, that he favoured love and non-violence. And the reasons you just gave for Gandhi agreeing to create India and Pakistan, yes he did it to avoid conflict, but in the end it created it. All that it has done is separate people and give them tags that categorise and divide them. See, even you criticise me because of where I am born and the color of my skin, yes I am white but the mind does not have a colour, so your statement does not mean I am stupid and that my education should be viewed as false information. The possibility of peace and unity in diversity is possible. In Canada we live with many religions and cultures, not without some conflicts, but not to the extent of terrorism. India has much diversity and should take pride in it, and I would like to think that most Indians do so, but you tell me. So I still think that Gandhi would be mad at the current situation. And we should be on equal terms, and instead of discouraging me to talk about politics, why not encourage me to learn more about them and become more educated on the subject. You could also refer books and information sources that contradict what I have already learned, I would be most interested. Thanks
Truth is by nature self-evident. As soon as you remove the cobwebs of ignorance that surround it, it shines clear.
- Mohandas Gandhi

Caravatti - Wow, great blogs, I look foward to reading them and discovering great music. Thanks.

Hey Stella, was about to respond to the condescending comment from 'anonymous' (typical) above, but then saw you'd done so yourself... in more polite terms than I would've probably.
So yay you!
